Sometimes, even if it’s a very touristic thing, you just have to do it. If you travel to Nepal you must see Everest. It is the highest peak of the world, 8840 m. The easiest and cheapest way to see it woth our own eyes is to book a local flight. The ticket is around 180$ and this kind of flight is operated by many lines, just in the morning. In the plane you’ll get an exclusevly window seat. But, if you want to take good pictures is not so great because the glass is tinted and scratched. But you are allowed to go in the cockpit for a better view. They won’t let you take pictures from there.

The plane emerges from the sea of clouds that cover Kathmandu and immediatley you can see the Himalayas that seem to flow in the air. The peaks are all white, lighted by the sun. As you get closer you begin to realise the greatness of the view. You will recive a little map of the peaks but you can ask the staff for details, too. Everest is always far away, the plane can’t aproach it too much because of the high peaks that sourround it. Everest has the distinctive shape of a piramyd. I felt joy in front of these huge mountains. Immediatley I remmembered all the movies about hikers trying to conquest the high peaks, about all those lost lives and hard path to the top.

Fun fact: As written by BBC, on mount Everest are more than 200 dead bodies of climbers that tried to conquest the peak. It is very interesting to see the mountain with your own eyes and to realize the death of those people and the fact that they are still there. Even when we went trekking we found about the death of a sherpa. About our trekking in Annapurna we invite you to read here.

So, this flight it’s totaly worth it and we recommend it. If you have a bigger budget (700$) you can take the helicopter, and that should be even more spectacular.
